Algerian Sahara


The Sahara is considered the world's largest hot desert with a total area of ​​12 million square kilometers. The locals call the Sahara Desert the "Tiniri" in the Berber language.

The temperature easily reaches fifty degrees during the summer. Strong winds can blow and creates sandstorms.

Ergs are areas of dune sands, real mountains of sand. Ergs occupy about 20% of the total area of the Sahara. In Algeria it is called the Grand Erg Occidental.

Guelta is a temporary or permanent plan like a pool of water in a river bed or rock. It is usually found in sheltered from the sun or in the mountainous areas.

Daya is a body of water that is usually found north of the Sahara at the bottom of a clay soil in which runoff water can accumulate.
